Side panels691 viewsThe above shot shows the wedge sides under construction. To ensure that the side panels were identical during the shaping phase, the 2 pieces of plywood were first screwed together.
I then added the altitude / declination adjustment slot. My main observing location (home in Sydney) is at Latitude 33 Degrees, 45 Minutes South, so to allow for my "infrequent" local travels to dark sky locations outside of the Sydney basin I cut enough play in the slots for 29 - 37 Degrees Latitude.

M33 Spiral Galaxy by Gerry Aarts366 viewsPart of the Local Group of galaxies that includes Andromeda and the Milky Way. M33 is not an ideal Southern Hemisphere object to view or image. I captured this one at Mudgee NSW when the galaxy was around 20 degrees above the horizon. 10 x 4 minute subs for a total of 40 minutes exposure. Celestron GPS11 with Hyperstar f1.8 lens and Meade DSI III camera.gerry aarts

Horsehead and Flame361 viewsThe Horsehead and Flame nebulas are located in the constellation of Orion.
Orion is a wonderful region for the astro imager, with many spectacular and challenging objects. This image is a stack of 6x10-minute subs captured in late September from a dark sky site.

Tarantula Nebula and surrounds199 viewsThe Tarantula Nebula, located on the edge of the Great Magellanic cloud, was once mistaken for a star.
Just right of centre is the bright Tarantula, surrounded by dust clouds swirling off to the upper left.
The dense star field of the Large Magellanic Cloud is clearly visible below and to the left.
The image appears blue-green in this visible spectrum image. A camera with near-infrared response would show more red.
